CURRENT ROADMAP OPENING CONDITIONS
Made to Thrive Float will be open for essential therapeutic care only until December 1 2021 in accordance with the NSW Roadmap guidelines.
Float Therapy has been sitting in a very grey area with no direct mention in the 52 page long public health order (find here). Float Therapy is considered by NSW Health as a health service and separate from businesses such as hair dressers, beauticians and spas etc. After a lengthy conversation both with Griffith Police and the NSW Covid hotline the consensus was that Float Therapy can open for the double vaccinated and those exempted, for both recreational and therapeutic reasons. Those who are partially or un -vaccinated may float with a referral from their doctor or allied health professional for specific therapeutic requirements only.
In view of the above, until the first of December, we will be opening for therapeutic reasons only for all. We strongly support our clients free choice on personal health decisions and we respect the confidentiality of their health records. We do not support any form of segregation or discrimination of our clients based on their vaccination status.
If you need a referral you may organise that yourself or we can help with our friendly allied health professionals.
Current Riverina Family Chiropractic clients – most of you would have been referred by one of our chiropractors anyway, so upon your request we can put that referral in writing to accompany your next float with us.
To help those who are really struggling with their mental health right now, we have created a Mental Care Package which includes the price of one tele-health appointment with our resident Psychologist Krysten Taprell to obtain a referral and 5 floats (worth $505) for $300. This can not be purchased online. To find out more call 6962 3436
We will be reducing our hours for the duration of the current restrictions.
Operating on Thursday afternoons, Fridays and Saturdays.
How We Are Keeping You Safe
Our Float Centre:
Float therapy is about everything that you won’t be doing.
You won’t be fighting gravity. The 500kg of Epsom salt in the water makes you weightless.
You lose track of where your body ends and the solution begins. The Epsom solution is kept at 35 degrees. This is skin-receptor neutral, which gives the feeling of floating in space.
Noise from the outside doesn’t reach you. Your ears stay just below the solution, and the pods are insulated against sound.
After you shut the door and turn off the pod light, you float in total darkness. For an hour the outside world is gone, and amazing things happen. It turns out that when you’re not fighting gravity or constantly being bombarded with external stimulation, incessant background noise and distraction, your body has a lot of extra resources at its disposal. Your mind is free to mull things over without
distraction, your brain waves slow down, and your whole body gets to rest, repair and renew.
It does something magical to you that you can’t get any other way. Your mind, body, soul and spirit will be rested, repaired and renewed as you are freed from all distractions.
REST – Floating naturally increases your dopamine and endorphin levels, enhancing your mood. Cortisol is decreased, improving sleep and reducing stress. Studies show that people with anxiety, depression, fibromyalgia, PTSD, anorexia and even jetlag, have benefited from floating. It is the ideal environment for deep, soul quenching meditation and prayer.
REPAIR – Magnesium from the Epsom Salts is absorbed through the skin and has therapeutic benefits. It reduces inflammation, increases blood supply to the muscles and reduces lactic acid. This is beneficial for acute and chronic conditions, sports recovery and muscle repair. It is also wonderful for your skin and hair – and you don’t get all wrinkly!
RENEW – Floating provides the space and time to reflect on your life and what is important to you. Distraction free, your level of concentration, knowledge absorption and visualisation is astounding. Creativity and clarity abounds. People have written books, prepared speeches and improved their mental wellbeing while floating. Rediscover your dreams, passions and visions, get back on track
and choose to thrive!
Do I have to close the pod door or turn off the lights?
No, you don’t. Closing the door and turning off lights allows you to maximize the benefits of the float session by truly minimising all sensory stimulation. However, it is certainly possible to enjoy a float session without.
Will I feel claustrophobic?
The pods are quite spacious, and you are always in control of your environment and can get out at
any time. People with claustrophobia consistently report no problems.
How do you keep the tanks clean?
The salt solution is fully filtered between each float. The Epsom salt is also naturally antiseptic and
Can I drown if I fall asleep?
No. Some people fall asleep, but the solution is so buoyant that you stay afloat.
Can I float If I’m pregnant?
Yes! In fact, floatation therapy is highly beneficial for pregnant women. It will allow you to escape the
strain caused by the weight of your growing belly.
How often should I float?
The more you float the greater the benefits – it is up to you and what you want to gain from floating.
Can anyone float?
Almost anyone can float, with a few exceptions. Those with alcohol or drugs in their system or an
open wound or suicidal tendencies should not float
